Summer Skincare Routine

Everyone wants a hot mom or hot girl summer but do you know what you need to achieve it?

When it comes to maintaining healthy skin and a glowing complexion, most people prefer the warm temperatures and moisture-preserving humidity of summertime.

But the arrival of summer doesn’t mean it’s time to ease up on skin care; it means it’s time to pivot your routine. Warmer weather and more time outdoors carry a whole new set of skin care challenges and concerns, and your daily skincare routine should reflect that.

As a BSN nurse with a niche for beauty and healthy skin, Sade Campbell RN BSN, knows what you need to achieve healthy, youthful, radiant looking skin  to live your best summer life.

Here are 4 Tips To Glow:

1. Clean Thy Skin You're In

This sounds so redundant right? But would you believe that over 50% of people do not feel confident or knowledgeable in proper skin cleansing.  Be sure to find a cleanser that's suitable for your skin type ( we'll be dropping an E-Book on this soon), stop using unnecessary tools, simplicity is always best., properly remove all your makeup; preferable with an oil based cleanser, try our Golden Goddess Face & Body Oil for a deep pore cleansing and dewy after glow. Always use lukewarm water, no need to scold your skin, sometimes that does more damage than good. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel!

2. Scrub a dub, dub= Exfoliate

Summer is the perfect time to incorporate more exfoliation into your skincare routine. Scrubbing away dead skin cells and opening your pores and increase skin hydration and healthy skin renewal. The best part is, you don't have to exfoliate any more than 3x/week. For a gentle but effective exfoliation , add our turmeric based kit or face and body scrub to your cart!

3. Stay hydrated, my friends.

Drink up butter cup. Yes, you need liquids to hydrate from the inside out. It's essential int he summer to feed your body since you experience water loss in the hotter months. You are more vulnerable to dehydration. Drinking at least 1 liter (64 ounces) of water will help. That's like the equivalent of drinking (4) 16 oz bottles of water from the grocery store. A much easier way to check for hydration is by pinching the top layer of skin on your hand, if you're pinching a tent literally then you're not drinking enough.

4. Sunscreen

Sunscreen is one of those controversial topics because yes we know it protects us but we also know picking one full of toxic ingredients may do us just as much harm. Be sure to find sunscreen that avoid the following ingredients:

  • Oxybenzone.
  • Avobenzone.
  • Homosalate.
  • Octinoxate.
  • Octocrylene.
  • Cinoxate.
  • Dioxybenzone.
  • Ensulizole

Basically if you can't pronounce it, may be best to stay away from it. Try to find a lightweight, dual purpose moisturizing sunscreen with SPF of 30. Good ingredients  would be carrot seed oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil, vitamin E just to name a few. Be sure to apply the sunscreen at least 15-20 minutes before you spend time in the sun and always re-apply as needed.
